Hear It From Me

Alicia (Al) Takaoka, PhD is an educator, writer, researcher, and instructional designer. Al was born in Pennsylvania, raised in Las Vegas, and has lived in Hawaii for nearly 20 years. Al has loved punk rock for over half of her life. A lover of travel and learning, Al’s passion is untangling metaphorical knots using social data to amplify marginalized voices and evaluate algorithms and AI systems for ethis, diversity, and accessibility issues. Alicia currently lives on the Big Island with The Mister and two cats (that go out on walks nearly every day).
